The Philippine Chapter of the International Watercolor Society was founded in April of 2014 by Karen Sioson at the invitation of IWS founder and president Mr. Atanur Dogan.  We searched for Filipino artists who share the same passion for the medium and who believe in the same advocacy as IWS.  The aim was not just to help propagate the practice of watercolor, but also to have a chance to share with the rest of the world the exceptional talents of Filipinos in watercolor painting.  Being part of the International Watercolor Society enabled Filipino watercolor artists to not only promote Filipino art, it was a also great way for developing good diplomatic relations with world art communities as well as a great venue for promoting the cultural heritage and beauty of the Philippines.
